KITS FOR KIDS PROJECT

13-year-old Helps More Than 300 Families in Tampa Bay Commmunity

Jonathan, a 13 year old in Tampa, FL, will fulfill the Human Rights and Economic Justice principles of the Earth Charter on Friday, July 18, by assembling 370 “Kits for Kids” for families of the Florida Kinship Center. During his Bar Mitzvah in 2007, Jonathan announced his desire to help families in need by creating a community service project that could easily be replicated by kids across the world.

“I know the world has many problems and I cannot change them all myself,” said Jonathan. “But I can help with one problem in my own community and hope that this example can spark thousands of other kids to help me make a big difference.”

Jonathan raised more than $3,000 to purchase backpacks, school supplies and disposable cameras—for capturing happy moments—to assemble the “Kits for Kids” prior to the start of the 2008 school year.
