Earth Scouts coming soon!

Do you wish your child could participate in a scouting program that is welcoming and inclusive of all sorts of people? Would you like to help build an organization that is guided by the principles of the Earth Charter: respect for nature, economic justice, universal human rights and a culture of peace?

The Earth Scouts is a new national co-ed youth organization that will encourage youth to "Change the world one fun badge at a time!" At Earth Scout meetings youth, led by one or several adults, will learn about the Earth Charter principles, participate in fun activities and act to improve the world. The Earth Scouts is scouting plus – not simply learning skills or developing knowledge and demonstrating that, but also taking that knowledge and those skills and ‘acting to improve the world’!

The Earth Scouts is for boys and girls age 3 to 17 and does not exclude on the basis of sexual or gender identity. Also, the Earth Scouts welcomes all people without regard to religious orientation. If you are interested in promoting the principles of the Earth Charter for the highest good of the Earth and her people, we invite you to participate.

The Earth Scouts will encourage youth to explore their interdependence with the planet and humanity. Earth Scouts is more than just cleaning up a river or going on a hike - it is learning about how nature is dependent on our economic system and how economics are dependent on our culture and how our culture is dependent on us! And while the youth (and adults) are learning about this interdependence they are enjoying the fellowship of peers while having fun!
